Build: use craft-media for bitstream, isobmff and matroska - #2435
Conversation
filmcraft-bitstream, filmcraft-isobmff and filmcraft-matroska re-export
craft_media::{bitstream, isobmff, matroska} from craft-libs. The packages
and their public paths stay, so dependent crates build unchanged. The
integration tests in crates/isobmff/tests and crates/matroska/tests run
against the re-exports.

Once craft-media lands, please repin to its canonical merge commit and rerun the consumer and oracle checks against that revision. |
craft-media spells the Matroska colour types in US English: Colour is Color and VideoInfo::colour is VideoInfo::color. The spec names element_ids::COLOUR, COLOUR_SPACE and VpcConfig::colour_primaries stay.
Ported from craft-media: the last audio or video frame of a track cut by -t is shorter than a codec frame. ffmpeg 8 writes a shortened BlockDuration and reports the codec frame duration; a remux by our writer stores DefaultDuration and ffprobe reports the shortened one. Subtitle cue durations are still compared. This fixes oracle::mjpeg_ac3 with ffmpeg 8. The HDR test is named hevc_hdr_color, as in craft-media.
craft-media laces only tracks with a DefaultDuration. The remux gives each audio track without one its mean packet spacing, so Vorbis, FLAC and PCM lace too, and compares every packet's timestamp with the source's. Ported from craft-media's oracle_matroska.rs.
craft-media laces only tracks with a DefaultDuration. The test's Matroska helper sets the AAC access unit's duration (1024 samples, rounded to the nanosecond), and the test checks that the Xiph-laced file has laced blocks and the unlaced one has none.

craft-libs#245 is on storytold/craft-libs main, so the dependency points there.

Record the specification edition in this crate README.
The clean-room rule requires the crate README to record the specification edition. Add the applicable ISO/IEC and QuickTime editions directly to crates/isobmff/README.md. The linked upstream README cannot replace this requirement.
The previous README listed specification numbers, but it did not record editions. Therefore, this is not conditional on content removed from the previous README.

Record the specification editions in this crate README.
AGENTS.md requires the spec edition in the crate README. The upstream link does not satisfy that requirement. Add the editions retained by the previous README.

Depends on storytold/craft-libs#182.
What
filmcraft-bitstream,filmcraft-isobmffandfilmcraft-matroskabecome re-exports ofcraft_media::{bitstream, isobmff, matroska}from craft-libs:Cargo.toml:craft-mediain[workspace.dependencies],default-features = false.src/lib.rsis onepub use craft_media::<module>::*;line. The sources theyreplace are deleted (9,249 lines).
filmcraft_matroska::ebml,filmcraft_matroska::element_ids, bothByteSourcetraits). No other FilmCraft crate changes,and EffectCraft's FilmCraft pin and LightCraft Select All/ curser drag select #1241 keep building.
crates/isobmff/tests/andcrates/matroska/tests/stay and run against the re-exports, socargo xtask fixturesis unchanged. The unit tests moved to craft-libs with the code.Behaviour changes only for input outside the contract (listed in the craft-media README,
"Origin and API"): bit widths above 32, a zero NAL length width, and a
u32overflow inPcmConfig::bytes_per_frameon a hostile QuickTime channel count. One addition:BitReader::read_ue_plus.MkvWriterwritescraft-mediaas MuxingApp/WritingApp. No FilmCrafttest asserts those strings.
Why
SoundCraft and DeckCraft carry copies of these crates, and LightCraft and EffectCraft pull them
from FilmCraft. The copies had drifted (SoundCraft lacks APV and the
se(v)fix; DeckCraft hashardening FilmCraft lacked). With one shared copy, a fix lands once for every app.
Pin
craft-mediais pinned tostorytold/craft-libsatf0ad6c1e1, the same way ascraft-docpath. That commit also has DeckCraft's limits on QuickTime v2 PCM entries (craft-libs#246), and includes the ports of FilmCraft's bitstream fixes #2953 (NAL length widths,BitError::InvalidNalLengthSize) and #2880 (cached RBSP stop bit). Its matroska and isobmff code already covered #2911 (stripped private data built once) and #2933 (bounded metadata expansion). FilmCraft's own copies of those files are gone, and the four fixes' tests live in craft-media. No FilmCraft code matchesBitErrorexhaustively, so the new variant needs no change here.Checks
After merging main and repinning (
cargo xtask ci, Linux x86_64, ffmpeg installed): fmt, clippy, layers, assets, wasm and doctests pass; 3569 of 3570 tests pass (same result after the repin tof0ad6c1e1). The one failure,filmcraft-av1fuzz_hostile::hostile_streams_never_panic, also fails on main with this machine's SVT-AV1 2.3, which refuses seeds under 64 pixels high.Earlier run:

matroskaoracle::mjpeg_ac3, which fails the same way onmainwith ffmpeg 8 (ffmpeg shortens the last AC-3 block's duration). craft-media's copy ofthat test accounts for it.
