Anthropic merged Claude Cowork into Claude ("Claude Cowork is now just
Claude", rolling out to Pro and Max first). Name the runtimes by what
they are: cloud session, local session, and sandboxed session for those
plus the chat runtime, defined once in environments.md. Keep "Cowork"
for identifiers and UI strings (remote_cowork, the lint target cowork,
cowork-harness), page titles, and the brand's first mention. Renamed
headings update their references; the README keeps its old anchor.
Quote the support articles (15520349, 13345190, read in raw HTML on
2026-10-02): on Pro and Max, new tasks and scheduled tasks run in the
cloud from 2026-10-06 and "Only on your computer" is removed; a cloud
session reaches the user's files only through the desktop app, only in
connected folders, only while it is open. Marked documented, not
measured. Local-session facts and the scheduled-task sweep stay, scoped
to tasks already started locally and plans the change hasn't reached.
Measured by claude-code-internals on Desktop 2.19675.0: in the newer
interface a conversation starts as chat and creates a cloud session on
its first shell or file need, and only cloud sessions were seen there;
local sessions still ran on a Team org with the older Chat/Cowork
picker. Egress (documented): settings cover the shell; web fetch and
search, MCP and Claude in Chrome sit outside them.
Plan reviewed adversarially before implementation (blockers fixed:
the change stated as if in effect, the sweep note dropped too early, a
two-meaning "sandboxed session").
Bump the version, date the changelog, and re-record the no-trigger cassette (the bump re-stales it). Minor, not patch: eval_review.html no longer downloads eval_set.json (paste-back instead), a removed behaviour.
