While GDPR is the current focus of many privacy compliance exercises, there are other privacy regulations in development that may benefit from the Purposes Extension Addendum. To those ends, it may be beneficial to remove the references to DNT to broaden the applicability of the standard:
- Change "User agents can then make this information available to users, for example whenever they request it, helping to meet the transparency requirements of European data protection/privacy law.” to "User agents can then make this information available to users whenever users request it, assisting in fulfilling regulatory transparency requirements."
- In "to allow a top-level context to specify domain specific DNT:1, which can be used to express a user's right-to-object to data collection or processing in certain circumstances, as called for by Article 21 of the GDPR.” change “as called for by” to “for example, in support of”
