Recently, there was a bug ticket that reported the ERR array is NaN after the shifting step: #296 . A general fix for handling NaNs in the ERR array is addressed in: #301 . However, we might want to check that the shifting being done on the ERR array is preserving the correct errors. Filing this so we remember to check back in on it.
