"Teach a Class" could be more than just a single Tile

This Issue is not a technical problem or bug, but rather a philosophical Issue...

I see a lot of Skill Trees here that have "Teach a Class" as a single Tile at the very top. The most Advanced, I guess.

But I'm thinking every Tile is a small task that could (should?) be taught too. I thinking "Teaching" should not be Advanced, it should be Basic and common. ("Teaching" could be as granular as sharing a single tip.)

If Trees were more digital they could move beyond being just a manual spreadsheet, and training material could be attached to any Tile, for example. And the opportunities for gamification would just explode.

What do you think? Is there a better place to discuss and work on this??

Hey @warrenjokinen , Yes, this is a good train of thought. I generally try to include 'Teach a friend' below 'Teach a class' somewhere to try and cover this base of starting to give back and grow the community around your progress. Another angle that I've began to consider is that you can also use skill trees from both a 'learner' and 'teacher' perspective, where instead of coloring in things you've done, you color in things you've taught or covered.

I totally agree about the potential for further gamification with a digital version of this project. Some kind of system where tiles are connected to more information or a wiki would be ideal, but the scope of managing and updating this information would be huge. There's nearly 60 skill areas covered so far, which is about 4,000 wiki pages which would also need to be updated as peer reviews are submitted. I don't have the skillset (yet) for managing something like this, but I'm working on opening the door for people, companies, makerspaces and schools to start building their own versions.

I'm currently consulting with a legal team to create a licence agreement to allow commercial usage of the project to be unlocked with different GitHub sponsor tiers. This will support the project further and allow me to create more reward tiers for contributors too.
I'm still working out all the details but more info to follow in the next few months.

Yes! A 'teacher' could create a Tree for a single 'learner', or a class.

For when the goal is to fill out the tree, but the order would up to the student.

Also I think the teacher could learn by creating the tree, and by monitoring the learners, too.

BTW, I maintain a wiki (manually) for our Makerspace and it has about 100 pages....

Yes, that's a great idea too, lay out the journey for the student and provide more choice and agency with their learning.

Wow, that's great about the Makerspace wiki! What service do you use? As they say, a journey of a 4000 page wiki begins with a single page...

For our wiki at Pikes Peak Makerspace, I write and maintain our content (using MediaWiki... so it works sort of like Wikipedia).

I don't use AI to generate copy, and prefer actual photos over Gen AI... but working under the assumption that the pages will someday be scraped by an AI Agent, not directly by Makers.

Always trying to get more members involved, and that's been really tough over the years. We do have one member who does the admin stuff, like adding extensions, and restarting the sw after memory leaks (!)

I am finishing up and would like to submit a WIKI BUILDING Tree. I used the Skill Tree Generator, and it was fun, actually!

Nice! I've also been looking at Wiki.gg as an option too. Yes, I agree, I'd prefer to use AI sparingly, or at least mark AI generated pages for checking by humans. A Wiki building tree would be great, thanks so much! You're welcome to submit a pull request with this, or submit another issue and I can add it in. Much appreciated!
