there was a fix in 1.7.2 that changed the behaviour for raw types:

• Allow for subtype resolution with unknown generics FasterXML/java-classmate#53
• Fix #53 FasterXML/java-classmate#113

That fix results in Hibernate Validator metadata discovery changes if raw types are involved. This subsequently can result in an exception shifting to a bit more obscure place when there's a problem with constraint definitions.
So if everything is nice and especially if no raw types are involved -- all should be ok. But if not -- user may get a bit lost 🫣 🙂

Hence I'd treat this update more like a 1.7 -> 1.8 (or even 2.0 😃)
