Why

We track one prompt: "My prototype has its first 100 paying users. How should I choose hosting and Postgres that can grow without a big infrastructure project?" Through 2026-10-05, 76 AI answers to it named Prisma Postgres in the database shortlist once (Gemini, 2026-09-30) and Prisma Compute never. Half of those answers (38 of 76) search the web, and 37 of the 38 never retrieved a prisma.io hosting page. The other 38 answer from memory, which no page edit can move soon. When an answer does weigh a host, it checks things we cannot claim or have not documented: point-in-time recovery comes up in 58 of 76 answers, read replicas in 57 and HA or failover in 37. Our P2 post also contradicted Neon's own plans page on PITR, contradicted our backups docs on how often snapshots are taken, and had a meta title that competed with our newer comparison post for "managed Postgres hosting". This PR fixes the facts and the title. It adds no new pick copy.

What changed

Post: apps/blog/content/blog/choosing-hosting-and-postgres-after-your-first-100-users/index.mdx

  • metaTitle: 97 characters starting "Managed Postgres hosting that scales" becomes "Hosting and managed Postgres for 100 paying users (2026)" (56 characters), so it stops competing with the comparison post's head term. The page title and URL are unchanged.
  • Neon PITR: four "paid plan" claims (opening, table, disclosure, FAQ) now say Neon restores to a moment on every plan: 6 hours on Free (up to 1 GB of change history), up to 7 days on Launch, up to 30 days on Scale. Source: https://neon.com/docs/introduction/plans, fetched 2026-10-06.
  • Opening: the PITR sentence is split in two and says Neon "can restore to an earlier moment on every plan". The per-plan windows are in the table and FAQ, so "on Free" no longer reads as Prisma's Free plan.
  • Backups: "daily snapshot" becomes "a snapshot on each day with database activity", and the table says this is on paid plans. Source: apps/docs/content/docs/postgres/database/backups.mdx line 13; Free has no backups per https://www.prisma.io/pricing.
  • New line in the stack-pair section: "Prisma Compute has been generally available since August 2026." Source: apps/docs/content/docs/compute/faq.mdx line 9.
  • Caching FAQ: cut to two sentences with no Prisma ORM 8, cache middleware or Accelerate text. It says Prisma Postgres has no query cache of its own and that cached reads can be out of date. Source: https://www.prisma.io/docs/postgres/faq.
  • "Buy time, not architecture": removed "At 100 paying users almost nothing needs to change".
  • VPS table row and the self-hosted Postgres bullet no longer say "failover", so the post no longer implies managed failover. The Prisma Postgres docs have no HA or failover statement.
  • Dates: the disclosure and "How we compared" now say Neon's restore window was checked again on 2026-10-06, and Sources cites Neon's plans page with that date.
  • Disclosure bullet: split into two sentences for readability.
  • Frontmatter updatedAt is now 2026-10-06, and a 2026-10-06 Update history line lists these changes.

Site: apps/site/src/components/sections/compare-links-data.ts

  • Adds /blog/app-hosting-platforms-with-managed-postgres-2026 (label "App hosting platforms with managed Postgres compared (2026)", which matches that post's metaTitle) to the Compare Prisma links on /postgres, /compute and /pricing. The page returns 200 live. Removed the header note "Add the hosting comparison page here when it publishes."

Checks: check-ai-signs.sh, check-plain.sh and check-staccato.py are clean on the whole post. All 5 internal blog links resolve to existing slugs. Site tests were not run locally (no node_modules in the worktree), so CI covers markdown-parity.test.ts.

What did not change

  • No TypeScript-scoped first sentence and no Prisma vs Render + Neon criteria table.
  • No retitle of the post into a "best managed Postgres hosting" listicle, and no new page.
  • No new Prisma ORM or Accelerate content; this PR removes the last block.
  • No claim of point-in-time recovery, branching, read replicas, HA or failover, autoscaling, multi-region or Docker.
  • Nothing about cron on Compute. Compute is not called beta, and Composer is not labelled.
  • No managed-Postgres provider table added to the comparison post.

Expected effect

This is a small change. Once ChatGPT search and Gemini recrawl the page, we expect it, at best, to add Prisma Postgres and Compute to the shortlist in some answers within about a week. We do not expect a first pick. The one time a model retrieved this page, it used it as a checklist and placed us third. The PITR, replica and failover gaps still cap what the page can win. Answers from memory will not move. We will measure per answer (named in the host or database shortlist, or not) on 2026-10-20, not with the visibility score.

For reviewers to decide

  • The compare-links label for this post is still "Choosing hosting and Postgres after your first 100 paying users". The title is now "Hosting and managed Postgres for your first 100 paying users (2026)". The Neon post's label is stale in the same way. Both predate this PR and are left as they are. Matching the P2 label to its title would point "managed Postgres" anchor text at this post, which the metaTitle change tries to avoid.
  • fix(blog): Neon Free storage is 1 GB per project, 20 GB total #8390 (Neon 1 GB storage fix) is still open. It touches neither file in this PR, so the two do not conflict.

…s add the hosting comparison

- Neon's instant restore is on every plan (6 hours on Free, up to 7 days
on Launch, up to 30 on Scale, per neon.com/docs/introduction/plans and
neon.com/pricing, 2026-10-06); drop the "paid plan" claims.
- Prisma Postgres backups: a snapshot on each day with database activity
  (postgres/database/backups.mdx).
- State that Prisma Compute has been generally available since August 2026.
- Cut the caching FAQ to two sentences with no ORM or Accelerate detail.
- Shorter metaTitle: "Hosting and managed Postgres for 100 paying users (2026)".
- Add /blog/app-hosting-platforms-with-managed-postgres-2026 to the
Compare Prisma links on /postgres, /compute and /pricing.

…failover

- Opening: PITR sentence split so "on Free" no longer reads as Prisma's
Free plan; Neon "can restore to an earlier moment on every plan", with
the per-plan windows left to the table and FAQ.
- Table: Prisma Postgres snapshots are on paid plans only.
- FAQ: Neon's Free window is capped at 1 GB of change history
  (neon.com/docs/introduction/plans, 2026-10-06).
- Disclosure and "How we compared": Neon's restore window was rechecked
on 2026-10-06; the disclosure bullet is split into two sentences.
- Caching FAQ: "cached reads can be out of date" instead of "a cache
  costs freshness".
- VPS row and self-hosted bullet no longer mention failover, so the post
does not imply a managed failover the docs do not state.
- Update history lists the removed lines.
