Walkthrough

CNI configuration collection now uses a helper to stream configuration from the node while excluding paths that match *kubeconfig* case-insensitively. Node gathering invokes the helper and logs command output and exit status on failure. A Bash test checks filtered output, unchanged selected files, and failure cases. The Makefile adds a target to run the test.

The filter remains incomplete for unusually named CNI credentials, but this exposure already existed before the change.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No eligible functions found in the changed files. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 1 files. (3 skipped: 3 unsupported.)

Full details: Test Structure And Quality

Explanation

The pull request adds a Bash test (must-gather/tests/gather_cni_config_test.sh), not a Ginkgo test. The Ginkgo-specific requirements for It blocks, BeforeEach/AfterEach, Eventually/Consistently, assertion messages, and ote.Informing() are therefore not applicable.

Full details: Microshift Test Compatibility

Explanation

The pull request adds a Bash test script, not a Ginkgo e2e test. The changed files contain no It(), Describe(), Context(), or When() tests and do not reference MicroShift-unavailable APIs, namespaces, or features. The MicroShift compatibility check is therefore not applicable.

Full details: Single Node Openshift (Sno) Test Compatibility

Explanation

PASS: The pull request adds a Bash test (must-gather/tests/gather_cni_config_test.sh) and Makefile wiring. It does not add Ginkgo e2e tests or make any multi-node, HA, scheduling, failover, or topology assumptions. The test uses temporary local directories and a fake oc executable.

Full details: Topology-Aware Scheduling Compatibility

Explanation

The pull request changes only must-gather shell scripts, a Makefile test target, and a shell test. It adds no deployment manifests, operator code, controllers, replicas, affinity, topology spread, node selectors, tolerations, or PDBs. The topology-aware scheduling check is therefore not applicable.

Full details: Ote Binary Stdout Contract

Explanation

PASS. The pull request changes only a Makefile, Bash collection scripts, and a Bash test. It introduces no OTE binary, Go main process, suite setup, or process-level stdout write. The repository search found no changed OTE entry point or relevant stdout logging behavior.

Full details: Ipv6 And Disconnected Network Test Compatibility

Explanation

PASS: The pull request adds a Bash unit test, must-gather/tests/gather_cni_config_test.sh, not a Ginkgo e2e test. The changed scripts use local temporary files and a fake oc; they do not add IPv4 assumptions or external network connectivity.

Full details: No-Weak-Crypto

Explanation

The pull request adds shell-based tar filtering and tests for kubeconfig exclusion. The changed lines contain no MD5, SHA1, DES, 3DES, RC4, Blowfish, ECB, custom cryptography, or secret/token comparisons. The token strings are test data and are only searched as archive content.

Full details: Container-Privileges

Explanation

PASS. The pull request changes only a Makefile and Bash collection/test scripts. The authoritative diff contains no container or Kubernetes manifest changes and no privileged, hostPID, hostNetwork, hostIPC, SYS_ADMIN, or allowPrivilegeEscalation declarations.

Full details: No-Sensitive-Data-In-Logs

Explanation

No new sensitive-data logging is introduced. The changed CNI path streams a filtered tar archive and passes only command diagnostics to the existing error logger; it does not echo file contents, tokens, or credentials. The added sensitive-test-token appears only in test fixtures and is checked without printing it. The new comments identify credentials generically and contain no secret value.

Exclude the configured CNI credential path instead of matching only its filename.

Whereabouts accepts the kubeconfig setting as a path and does not require a kubeconfig basename. A supported credential named config can therefore pass --exclude='*kubeconfig*' and expose its contents in must-gather output.

@tbuskey May be a follow-up PR. Do we need this exit_code assignment for all the other "if" blocks?

The script works, but it hand-rolls something oc already does. oc rsync is the supported subcommand.
Did you already consider using it?
