Compact and hide shell chrome without hiding failures

Problem

The working UI spends too much window space on header, identity row, pane title bars, buttons, and optional proof chrome. Primary actions must stay discoverable, but secondary controls should be compact or hideable.

Scope

• Compact default toolbar.
• Collapsible identity/status controls.
• Smaller pane title/action treatment.
• Persist compact/expanded preference.
• Keep Settings, Debug, Proof, naddr, orientation, fullscreen, identity, and recovery discoverable.
• Replace implementation jargon in normal mode; full hashes/domains remain in optional evidence/debug.
• Preserve focus, resize, reduced motion, narrow-window behavior, and accessibility.
• Do not restyle portable napplet internals or change daemon/NMP/runtime semantics.

Non-negotiable

Unresolved cleanup, ambiguity, degradation, or initialization failure can never be collapsed, obscured, or dismissed without the required action.

Acceptance

• Collapsed top-level shell chrome is at most 96 px at 1366×768.
• Pane title chrome is at most 34 px.
• No horizontal overflow at 1024×768, 1366×768, or 1920×1080.
• Compact preference survives reload.
• Normal mode contains no unexplained “EXACT DOMAINS AVAILABLE” or equivalent jargon.
• Before/after screenshots cover normal, narrow, Settings, naddr review, Debug, degraded, and recovery states.
• Real clicks/key presses, accessibility checks, pnpm smoke:linux, and visible Debian acceptance pass.
• Zero unexpected browser console errors.
