* bump protobuf to 29.1 * removed not longer required java single override * removed rules_proto due deprecation * migrated x_proto_library targets to protobuf * set default bazel version to 8.6.0
The README points to the community maintained protoc-gen-js npm package. Unfortunately, this package hasn't been updated for some time. We now provide an official @protocolbuffers/protoc-gen-js package that is released in lock step with google-protobuf.
