Changes

Follow-up to #6974, inside the list_card_tldr experiment only. CardTldr renders nothing when the flag is off, so the control arm is unchanged.

Interaction

  • Tapping the clamped TLDR, or its "Show more", expands it in place.
  • Once expanded, the button goes away for good (no "Show less").
  • From then on, tapping the TLDR text opens the post, like the rest of the card. A TLDR that fits in three lines was already a plain part of the card and still is.
  • expand tldr is still logged once, on the first tap.

Copy and type

  • "Read more" becomes "Show more", no longer bold.
  • The TLDR moves from text-text-secondary to text-text-primary, and "Show more" from typo-footnote (13px) to the body's typo-callout (15px). X's mobile web sets tweet text at the same 15/20 we use, but at full-strength color with a "Show more" the size of the text, so size and line height stay as they are.

Reviewer notes

  • The text is tappable through the "stretched button" pattern already used in AgentPostCard: while collapsed, the wrapper is relative z-1 above the card link and the button's after:absolute after:inset-0 covers it. "Show more" stays the single accessible control, and once expanded the wrapper drops back under the card link.
  • jsdom does no hit-testing, so the text tap is verified in headless Chrome at phone width against the dev server with the flag forced on: the clamped text resolved to the button, the title to the card link, and after expanding the text resolved to the card link with no button left.
  • Since the button unmounts after use, keyboard focus falls back to the page.
  • The Storybook Gist Feed mockup still shows the old "Show less" flow; I left it to design.

Testing

  • CardTldr.spec.tsx and ArticleList.spec.tsx, shared card and feed suites, full webapp suite
  • eslint, typecheck-strict-changed, full webapp tsc

Inside the list_card_tldr experiment, tapping the clamped TLDR or its
"Show more" now expands it in place for good. The button then goes away
(no "Show less"), and tapping the expanded text opens the post like the
rest of the card. "Show more" stretches its hit area over the clamped
text with a pseudo-element, so it stays the one accessible control.

The TLDR also moves to text-primary and "Show more" to the body's 15px
regular weight, matching how X's mobile web sets tweet text: same size
and line height as ours (15/20), full-strength color, and an inline
"Show more" the size of the text.
