NexusHost is a modern, real-time game server hosting dashboard. Phase I: The Nexus Connection establishes a robust, bidirectional heartbeat system between a remote Windows Engine and a central Hub.
The system consists of three distinct components:
- Hub (
/nexushost/hub): A central message broker implemented with Node.js, Express, and Socket.io. It validates incoming telemetry and relays state to the Dashboard. - Engine (
/nexushost/engine): A headless Node.js client running on the target Windows machine. It uses thesysteminformationpackage to collect real-time hardware stats (CPU Load, RAM Usage) and streams them to the Hub. - Dashboard (
/nexushost/dashboard): A premium React 19 UI built with Vite, Tailwind CSS, and Lucide icons. It displays live hardware gauges and provides an interface for remote commands.
- Node.js v24+ LTS
- Windows environment (for Engine stats collection)
cd nexushost/hub
npm install
npm run devServer runs on http://localhost:3001.
cd nexushost/dashboard
npm install
npm run devFrontend runs on http://localhost:3000.
cd nexushost/engine
npm install
npm run devStats collection begins and streams to the Hub.
| Event | Direction | Payload |
|---|---|---|
ENGINE_CONNECT |
Engine → Hub | - |
DASHBOARD_CONNECT |
Dashboard → Hub | - |
HEARTBEAT |
Engine → Hub → Dashboard | { cpuLoad, ramUsed, ramTotal, timestamp } |
TEST_START |

ENGINE_STATUS |
Hub → Dashboard | { online: boolean } |
TUNNEL_URL |
Engine → Hub → Dashboard | Playit.gg public address (e.g., xxxxx.at.playit.gg) |
The engine now uses Playit.gg to expose the Minecraft server (port 25565) to the internet via a secure TCP tunnel.
- When the server starts, the engine automatically downloads
playit.exeif missing. - It launches the tunnel with
playit.exe --secret_path <path> --stdout start. - The engine parses the output for a claim URL (
.../claim/...). - Action Required: Click the claim URL in the Dashboard to associate the tunnel with your Playit.gg account. After claiming, the dashboard will display the active address (e.g.,
abcd1234.at.playit.gg). - Use this address in the Minecraft client to connect to your server.
- Frontend: React 19, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Lucide Icons, Socket.io-client
- Backend: Node.js, Express.js, Socket.io
- Hardware Stats:
systeminformation - Language: TypeScript (Strict Mode)
