Invidious is a lightweight alternative to YouTube. It lets you watch videos without ads, trackers, or the clutter of the regular YouTube website. You get a clean, fast interface that focuses on the video content itself.
This application runs on your Windows computer. It gives you full control over your viewing experience. No account is required. No personal data is collected.

Step 1: Visit the download page
Go to the official Invidious GitHub repository:

Step 2: Find the latest release
On the repository page, look for the "Releases" section on the right side of the page. Click the latest release (it should be at the top).
Step 3: Download the installer
In the release page, find the file named Invidious-Setup-x.x.x.exe (the x.x.x is the version number). Click this file to download it.
Step 4: Run the installer
Open the downloaded file. Windows may show a security warning. Click "Run anyway" or "More info" then "Run anyway". The installer will guide you through the setup process.
Step 5: Launch Invidious
After installation, find Invidious in your Start Menu or on your desktop. Double-click the icon to start the application.
When you open Invidious for the first time, you will see a welcome screen. Follow these steps:
- Choose your language from the dropdown menu.
- Select your preferred theme (Light or Dark).
- Click "Save Settings".
You are now ready to search and watch videos. Type a video title, channel name, or keyword in the search bar at the top.
Search for videos – Type your query in the search box and press Enter. Results appear in a clean list format.
Watch a video – Click any video result. The video player loads quickly. Use the player controls to play, pause, adjust volume, and toggle fullscreen.
Download a video – While watching a video, click the download button below the player. Choose your preferred format and quality. The file saves to your default downloads folder.
Manage subscriptions – Click the "Subscriptions" tab on the left sidebar. Enter a channel name to subscribe. Your subscribed channels appear in a feed.
Create playlists – Click "Playlists" in the sidebar. Name your playlist. Add videos by clicking the "Add to playlist" button while watching.
Open Settings from the gear icon in the top-right corner.
Appearance – Change the theme, font size, and layout density.
Privacy – Disable or enable watch history. Clear your search history. Choose whether to use a proxy.
Downloads – Set default download location. Choose preferred video format and quality.
Player – Select default playback speed. Enable or disable autoplay. Set default volume level.
Advanced – Configure proxy settings. Set custom instance URL. Reset all settings to defaults.
Invidious does not open – Make sure your antivirus software is not blocking the application. Add Invidious to your antivirus exclusion list.
Videos do not load – Check your internet connection. Restart the application. Try disabling your VPN if you use one.
Search returns no results – The search server may be temporarily unavailable. Wait a few minutes and try again.
Download fails – Ensure you have enough disk space. Try a different video format. Check your internet connection.
Application crashes – Update to the latest version. Restart your computer. Reinstall Invidious if the problem persists.
Invidious checks for updates automatically when you start the application. A notification appears when a new version is available.
To update manually:
- Visit the download page.
- Download the latest installer.
- Run the installer. It will replace your current version.
Invidious is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPLv3). This license allows you to use, modify, and distribute the software freely.
This application does not host any video content. It provides an interface to access publicly available YouTube videos. Users are responsible for complying with YouTube's Terms of Service.
