About

AniCult is a fully client-side single-page application. No server, no build step, no runtime dependencies. Open index.html and it works.

• Anime browsing uses the AniList GraphQL API (CORS-enabled)
• Video playback uses Megavid / AniXo / MegaPlay embed players (AniList & MAL ID based, no scraping; MegaPlay also supports Anikoto catalog IDs via https://anikotoapi.site and https://megaplay.buzz)

• Embed Streaming — Instant playback via themed embeds (Megavid / AniXo / MegaPlay with site-accent red, autoplay) with sub/dub toggle, provider switcher, auto-next on episode completion, error handling with retry, and MegaPlay mapping-request support
• Continue Watching — Smart CTA that only suggests aired episodes, with rewatch fallback when you're caught up
• Watchlist & History — LocalStorage persistence with episode progress tracking

How It Works

1. Browse anime on the home page (hero slideshow, trending, popular, recent)
2. Click into a detail page — pick the next aired episode from the grid
3. Embed loads instantly: Megavid/AniXo/MegaPlay using AniList ID (MAL ID fallback; MegaPlay also supports Anikoto episode_embed_id via /stream/s-2/{id}/{lang} and MAL/AniList via /stream/mal|ani/{id}/{ep}/{lang})
4. Video plays in an iframe with sub/dub toggle, provider switcher, and auto-advances to the next episode when finished (MegaPlay via megacloud channel + watching-log events, Megavid via kisskh, AniXo via aniko:)
5. History, progress, and watchlist save to localStorage
