Summary

Moves this repo's CI Node/Bun versions to releases patched for the October 2026 Node.js security release, including CVE-2026-111497, an RCE in the Brotli decoder reachable from fetch() and zlib.

  • Node 12/14/16/18/20/21/23 are end-of-life and got no fix. They move to 22.23.4, and Node 24 moves to 24.22.1. A bare major such as 22 or 22.x is pinned exactly, because setup-node can otherwise reuse an older runner-cached patch release.
  • bun 1.4.3 and earlier bundle the unfixed Brotli decoder (oven-sh/bun#46352), so it moves to 1.4.4.

Scope is CI only: .github/**, .nvmrc, .node-version, .bun-version. Dockerfiles and engines are unchanged.

File Before After
.nvmrc 18.13.0 22.23.4
.github/workflows/lint.yml node-version: 18.x node-version: 22.23.4
.github/workflows/test.yml node-version: 18.x node-version: 22.23.4

Opened as part of the CI sweep for #inc-10-22-sev2-multiple-rce. If CI fails on the major-version jump, the fix is usually a dependency bump. Close this PR if the repo is retired.

Test plan

  • CI on this PR passes on the new versions

Node <= 20 is end-of-life and got no fix in the Oct 2026 security release; bun <= 1.4.3 bundles the unfixed Brotli decoder. Pins CI to Node 22.23.4 / 24.22.1 and bun 1.4.4.
