Download

Grab the latest Windows build from the Releases page - download the zip, unzip it anywhere, and run Vito.exe. No Java installation required, the runtime is bundled inside.

Installation

  • Clone the repository: git clone <repo-address>
  • Open the project in IntelliJ IDEA as a Maven project - dependencies (JavaFX, JNativeHook, JNA) will be fetched automatically
  • Run the org.example.Main class

Want a ready-made .exe without an IDE? See Download or Building the .exe.

About

Vito is a clipboard history manager:

  • browse the history of copied text and images,
  • dark theme with its own logo,
  • runs in the background (tray) + global keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+V,
  • optional autostart with Windows,
  • packaged into a native .exe via jpackage.

Features

Feature Description
Clipboard history Automatically saves text and images from the clipboard, persisted to disk so it survives a restart
Favorites Entries marked as favorite are pinned to the top of the list and never removed from history
Important Highlights an entry with a colored accent
Search Live filtering of the history by content
Date Each entry shows a visible timestamp
Tray + hotkey The app runs in the background, bring the window back with Ctrl+Alt+V
Dark title bar The native Windows title bar is dark too (DWM API)

Autostart with Windows

  1. Run Vito.exe
  2. Right-click the tray icon (bottom-right corner of the taskbar)
  3. Check "Autostart z Windowsem"

From now on Vito will start automatically (in the background, in the tray) every time you log into Windows. Uncheck the same option to disable it. This only works with the packaged .exe - running the app from an IDE disables the option on purpose.

Building the .exe

./scripts/package-windows.ps1

The script builds the project with Maven and then packages it with jpackage into a self-contained Vito.exe in the dist/Vito folder (bundled with a Java runtime - no JDK required on the target machine).
