Problem

Xiaoyuzhou Doctor checks ffmpeg, the managed script and a Groq key, then promises complete podcast transcription. The shipped script also requires ffprobe, curl and perl. A machine missing any of those still receives ok, and the actual script subsequently fails before transcription.

Changes

Probe the mandatory commands with their read-only version flags before claiming readiness. Report missing commands as off with installation guidance and present-but-unusable commands as error. Keep the backend inactive until the runtime checks succeed. This adds no install or network action and leaves interpreter selection (#717) unchanged.

Validation

  • Before:4 failures and1 healthy control on real executable fixtures in an isolated PATH.
  • After:all5 focused cases pass; all612 repository tests pass.
  • Ruff all passed; diff check clean.
  • mypy: same3 existing MCP SDK2.2 diagnostics.
  • Format check: same54 existing files, no additional failures; new test formatted.

The native PATH fixture runs on POSIX and is skipped on Windows. No actual podcast or paid Groq requests are made.

AI assistance: prepared with Codex and reviewed before submission.

* fix(transcribe): keep ffmpeg off stdin and pass absolute paths (upstream Panniantong#769 Panniantong#770)

ffmpeg read the caller's stdin, so a 'q' there silently truncated the
audio. Relative names with ':' or a leading '-' were parsed as protocols
or options.

* docs(skill): don't quote multi-word gh repo searches (upstream Panniantong#589)
