Looking at https://gitlab.com/gromacs/tng/-/tree/master/src?ref_type=heads there were updates to the upstream sources for libtng that we vendor in https://github.com/MDAnalysis/pytng/tree/master/pytng/src . The latest upstream updates are ~1 year ago whereas our vendor sources appear to be 3 years old.
Looking at the merge history it looks that most changes are related to compiling although at least one appears to be a real fix, related to sorting in the Huffman decoding.
Can we/should we update ours to include all of this?
(I am also asking because of Discussion MDAnalysis/mdanalysis#5039 ).
