  <h2>What Hugin is</h2>
  <p>
    Hugin is a workbench for writing open-source drivers for energy
    devices over Modbus, MQTT, and HTTP. The workbench, the
    <a href="https://github.com/srcfl/hugin-agent">agent</a>, the
    <a href="https://github.com/srcfl/sourceful-hugin">API</a>, and the
    <a href="https://github.com/srcfl/hugin-drivers">driver library</a>
    are all open source under MIT. Drivers you submit land in a public
    GitHub repository under your GitHub identity.
  </p>

  <h2>What you can expect from us</h2>
  <ul>
    <li>The workbench, agent, and driver library are <strong>free to use</strong>. No paywall, no per-seat licensing.</li>
    <li>We pay the AI inference bill. AI usage may be rate-limited or quota-gated; we will be transparent about limits and post them in the workbench.</li>
    <li>We will not mine your driver work or anything the agent sees on your network. The architecture is designed so we <em>can't</em> — see the <a href="/privacy.html">Privacy</a> page.</li>
    <li>We will not change the MIT license on drivers, the agent, or the workbench. Open is the point.</li>
    <li>We make no commercial guarantees about availability or response time during beta. Best-effort.</li>
  </ul>

  <h2>What we expect from you</h2>
  <ul>
    <li><strong>Use it on devices you own or have permission to test.</strong> Hugin is not a pen-testing tool. Don't sweep networks or probe Modbus on infrastructure you don't control.</li>
    <li><strong>Don't try to escape the Lua sandbox</strong>, abuse the AI quota, or otherwise exploit the system. We will revoke pairing tokens for abuse without warning.</li>
    <li><strong>Drivers you submit must be MIT-licensable.</strong> Don't copy-paste proprietary vendor SDKs or NDA'd register maps. If a register map came from a vendor manual, that's fine — those are reference docs.</li>
    <li><strong>One pairing, one human.</strong> Don't share your GitHub OAuth session.</li>
  </ul>

  <h2>Safety + liability</h2>
  <div class="callout">
    <p style="color: var(--color-ground-ink); margin: 0;">
      <strong>Hugin is provided as-is, without warranty.</strong> Energy
      devices can be expensive and physical safety-critical. A buggy
      driver can damage hardware, trip protection, or corrupt grid
      registers. <strong>Test on disposable hardware first.</strong>
    </p>
  </div>
  <p>
    Sourceful and any contributor to the open-source repositories are
    not liable for damage caused by drivers authored with Hugin —
    whether the driver was written by you, by another contributor, or
    drafted by AI. This applies to physical damage, lost generation,
    spoiled batteries, false billing, and downstream control system
    misbehaviour.
  </p>
  <p>
    Some jurisdictions don't allow disclaimers this broad. Where that's
    the case, our liability is limited to the minimum permitted by law,
    capped at one euro.
  </p>

  <h2>Acceptable use</h2>
  <p>You agree not to use Hugin to:</p>
  <ul>
    <li>Attack, scan, or interfere with devices, networks, or infrastructure you don't own or have explicit permission to test.</li>
    <li>Harvest credentials, register maps, or driver source from devices you can't authorize.</li>
    <li>Reverse-engineer or weaponize the platform itself (the workbench, agent, API, or broker).</li>
    <li>Submit drivers that knowingly violate device safety limits or local regulations.</li>
  </ul>

  <h2>Termination</h2>
  <p>
    You can stop using Hugin at any time — revoke the GitHub OAuth scope
    at <a href="https://github.com/settings/applications">github.com/settings/applications</a>
    to disconnect cleanly. We can revoke pairing tokens and NATS
    credentials at any time for terms violations or abuse, without
    refund (there's nothing to refund).
  </p>
  <p>
    Driver PRs you've already merged into <code>srcfl/hugin-drivers</code>
    remain there under their original MIT licence — termination doesn't
    retroactively unpublish your contributions.
  </p>

  <h2>Jurisdiction</h2>
  <p>
    These terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes are resolved by the
    Stockholm District Court (<em>Stockholms tingsrätt</em>).
  </p>

  <h2>Changes</h2>
  <p>
    We may update these terms. Material changes get a banner on the
    workbench for 30 days and update the timestamp above. Continued use
    after a material change means you accept the new terms.
