@jamiepine - pls , any upodates ? I'm not setting up spacebot yet, unless i can use spacedrive, I'm being held back, because, spacedrive seems to be the only solution capable to organise all my sparse knowledge and files ... and spacebot, with spacedrive, sounds simply amazing :) |
They are becoming one product, and v3 is being folded into the existing v2, which is the reason for the delay. The adapter system from v3 is now a feature in v2. I have big plans for how this comes together. The work im doing here is on the I have a post that explains everything, I know this seems mad, but I couldn't let go of the amazing foundations in v2. I'm sure you'll love it. |

Oh yeah it's quite a mess, admiration for managing all this, 3 such huge codebases is a lot to deal with! Thanks for the insights! And sorry for the Anthropic story, I don't use it but can understand the pain! |

Spacebot users will be totally fine, v2 Spacedrive users nothing changes either (but I did move the default data directory to ~/.spacedrive yesterday so a copy and paste would do the trick) As for 0.4.3 (v1 alpha users) which is still the latest release of Spacedrive on GH, it's a completely different data structure and would need a migration tool. It could be built if people actually are using it. However due to the lack of working telemetry in the v1 alpha I have no idea if anyone is actually using it. |

Thanks for clarifying! I’ll jump in with the current setup—good to know v2
users are safe. Appreciate the heads-up on the data directory too.
Will keep an eye on burnout 😅. Excited to see how it all shapes up!

I feel like this project has been abandoned, it's long overdue with no further announcements or progress updates, and the R&D team has also not taken any action for a long time. Initially, I suspect V3 is a scam. |

@huangbangzhen Its just me maintaining Spacedrive, and its not fully abandoned I just am not making any money to sustain development. I would love to spend more time working on it, but instead my focus goes on various ways to put food on my plate. Also v3 ended up being merged into v2 because I felt abandoning the file manager interface was a bad call for the project. I hope that when I get some funding I can put more energy into the project. |

I'm happy to hear this news, but brother, at least let us know occasionally that the project is still ongoing, even if there's not much progress. But right now the most important thing is to solve the survival issue. Only by having enough to eat can we have the energy to think about other things. |

You should either start donations for it, or start charging something like 10 bucks for it. I am sure most people would understand that they are supporting the development. |
