How to make opening a file "persistent"? #14876

Hi! There's this feature (or regression?) that I've noticed recently where, when I open a file (by clicking on it or using the file explorer), its displayed name is italicized (see AGENTS.md compared to README.md): 
If I decide to open a new file while the current one is italicized, it closes it (AGENTS.md) in favor of the last file I opened. In order to make it "persistent" (i.e., not close when opening another file), I have to double-click on it. The expected behavior I'd like to see is that opening a file is persistent by default, so that I don't have to open and then double-click every file I want to keep open. I tried to look for this in the settings but couldn't find anything. Did I miss it? Thanks! |

Yes, there's a setting for it! If you don't like this behavior, turn off Workbench > Editor: Enable Preview:
