Lots of ways this might be implemented, but I wanted to gather some thoughts here.

It reminded me of a doc that explained a java library we wrote (and still have somewhere)

Garbled thoughts wrt what to do when the normal methods (onvif & known subnet) don't work:

• I believe some manufacturers make use of known MAC ranges.
• I read of an approach to scan all traffic to identify sources
• Scan common subnet ranges (presets)
• Livebook Runbook to do all the above.
• Make use of physical LAN port awareness on the routers.
