Bug when using 2 monitors #13439

Hello, it's me again, I work with two monitors; I like to translate on one monitor while watching the video in full screen on the second monitor, but in this version, when I switch to full screen on the other monitor, it doesn't adjust automatically and glitches 🥲 can you help me? There are some important details you've left out. What version of SE are you running? What operating system are you running? What exactly do you mean by "glitching?" That word conveys no meaning to me in this context. I run 2 monitors with SE 5.2.0 beta 8 on Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 25H2 build 26200.8973. I'm not seeing any problems. One thing I do notice in your picture, assuming that's Windows. You should define your second monitor so there is no Task Bar over there. Actually, that's not under the monitor definition but rather under Personalization -> Taskbar -> Taskbar behaviors.

I don't think that's the issue, because when I was using version 4.0 of SE, this didn't happen. I'm currently running SE 5.2.0-beta7 on Windows 11. As for my taskbar, I use it on both displays, but as I said, I don't think that's the problem, since I used the same configuration with version 4.0. |

Well, even in fullscreen, the Task Bar should be hidden. It's weird that it isn't. Also, I encountered some issues a long time ago with the distinction between fullscreen & maximized. You're not maximizing the window, right? You're putting it in fullscreen via Alt+Enter, right? Maximizing is a Windows operation. Like dropping down the Alt+Spacebar menu & executing the Maximize choice, or clicking the little square near the upper right corner of the window. That's not what you want to do. If you do that, your Task Bar will still be visible. You want to execute the SE function to put the player into fullscreen. The SE default shortcut for that is Alt+Enter. There is also an icon in the player controls for fullscreen. I just want to make sure you're actually doing fullscreen & not maximize. I have read that you should make sure both monitors are running the same resolution & the same refresh rate. Like 1920x1080 @ 60Hz or whatever you're doing. It is possible to run 2 monitors at different values but my understanding is Windows doesn't necessarily handle that as well as it should. How exactly is your second monitor attached to your system? Is it via an HDMI cable from your video adapter? Or are you using Miracast & going wireless? How are you putting the video player on the other monitor? Are you just dragging it over there with the mouse? Or are you doing Win+Shift+RightArrow, the Windows built-in keyboard shortcut? You didn't answer my question about glitching. What exactly do you mean? You also didn't identify your operating system. I've been assuming it's Windows, but is it? Which version? |

You have the video player on both screens. That's not how it should be. You should click the control on your first monitor that puts the video player into fullscreen. Then you should Win+Shift+RightArrow to swap the player over to the second monitor. Better yet, you should do what I do. Undock the video controls. That's on the SE Video menu in the main window. Once you undock the controls, Win+Shift+RightArrow to put the video player on the other monitor. Then with the video player selected in foreground, Alt+Enter to put it into fullscreen. |

We've had radio silence from this user for 4 days now. I've been flattering myself that somewhere in my ramblings he found a solution to his problem but hasn't told us about it. I could easily be wrong. I'm curious to get to the bottom of this one. |

As for how I do it, I go full screen using the button on the video player itself, and then when it’s in full screen mode, I move the player to the other monitor using Win+Shift+arrow keys. In version 4.0, it would even “remember” the other monitor, so just by going full screen, it would automatically move the player to the second monitor. |

OK. I did say Windows doesn't always handle 2 monitors with differing resolutions as well as it should. You've got monitors with differing resolutions. Your solution appears to be to run undocked & just let it go at that. I find that works well for me. Every time I close & reopen SE, it remembers to put my video player on the second monitor in fullscreen. So that appears to be your solution & that makes me very happy. I would say it's time to close this one. |
