Let's take inspiration from the KiCad project and initiate a discussion on the new features and development news following the release of V2.5.0.

The new Free Function API seems to be landing well with people.

But the reference is still redirected to the V2.4.0 website, not the latest V2.5.0.

the ref points to the "latest" version 10.5281/zenodo.3955118. Zenodo will update eventually.

When approximately could we expect a new release compatible with with Python 3.13 (it looks like master switched to new OCP about a month ago in #1589)?

(Also, installing anything older than 2.5.2 seems to be currently broken as it picks up ocp 7.7.2b2 and then results in ImportError: libXrender.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.)

You are right, though this does not require a release, but providing ocp7.7.2 compatible with py3.13

Sadly that would require rebuilding occt for newer vtk, which I will not attempt (see conda-forge/ocp-feedstock#61).

Are there any news or plans regarding some new release that would be compatible with Python 3.13?
It's really a pity that the code has already been there for quite a while already, but the lack of release is still preventing users from installing CadQuery. (And Python 3.14 is about to be released in less than a month.)

Side question: has anyone attempted to look into OCCT 8.0.0 (rc2)? We are eagerly waiting to try out some of the features like improved material support in STEP files (and we don't know how to try it out before the dependency chain gets updated).

#1779 is the last PR to be merged be the release, so "soon". We are looking into it, but currently having a working ocp 7.9 is blocking.

So basically you are still fighting issues for the OCP 7.9[.1] release (before even attempting 8.0), but this is something for another/future CadQuery release?
